Automec, Inc.-Waltham, MA: August 16, 2018:
Rick Hersey, Automec’s Senior Mechanical Engineer, reaches a Milestone with Automec, Inc. Rick has decided to semi-retire with the company, pushing his busy schedule to just one a day week to work with our newest engineer. Rick started with Automec back in 1981, 12 years after the beginning of Automec. Hersey landed a title as Mechanical Production Manager upon his start with the company. Closely working with Al Marotto, the Company Founder, Rick oversaw the production for the mechanical systems built in house at Automec. Today, Rick specializes in mechanical design and R & D.
Rick graduated from Franklin Institute of Technology in 1972 and after took his education a step further and graduated from Massachusetts Radio & TV in 1975. Before Automec, Rick worked for a company by the name of Nordson. This company produced hot metal adhesive application machines for high speed packaging lines and other uses. Rick started at Nordson as a Field Service Rep offsite. A majority of his position consisted of traveling the East coast, especially to Maine several times, to aid with installs when a new piece was bought.
Growing up in Needham, MA, Rick now resides in Medfield, MA. Rick, a past Boston Marathon runner and US Army veteran, plans to fully retire soon, so he can spend time with his family, including his grandchild. Rick concludes, “With the company’s success and the direction Automec is going it will take them, “Up, Up and Away!” He hopes the best for Automec and the team after his full retirement.
